Introduction & Context
The European Commission has requested support from Novacomm for a User Interface Designer.
Tasks & Responsibilities
One or more of the following tasks will be performed by the User Interface Designer:
•Create visual components and web layouts / print design
•Create branding and visual identities for web
•Prepare high-fidelity mock-ups, showing styling, use of typography, images, text, navigation etc.
•Transform mock-ups into semantic HTML
•Ensure branding consistence across European Commission websites
•Create design guidelines for websites under ec.europa.eu
•Maintain the Europa Component Library
•Create UI components, guidelines and layouts for desktop and mobile
•Create layouts that respect web accessibility and usability guidelines
•Create and maintain style guide and UI components
Knowledge & Skills
The following specific skills are requested:
•University level education
•At least 5 years of relevant professional experience within web design and user interface design
•Excellent knowledge of web design software tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch)
•Knowledge of CSS3 and HTML5, jQuery
•Knowledge of web ergonomics, usability and accessibility
•Good familiarity with user-centered design principles and methodologies
•Solution oriented – your skills/experience will contribute to the end product
•CAN DO attitude.
•EU/EC mindset, knowledge/interest in European affairs
•Excellent oral and written communication skills
Work environment / Conditions
The tasks will be executed within the Commission’s premises (intramuros) in Brussels, using the Commission’s technical means.
The selected candidate should be able to start in late August / beginning of September 2018.
The position has a long-term character.
